About Youngs Creek

By: HRA Crack Research Team

Youngs Creek Horse Trail is in the middle section
of Hoosier National Forest in Indiana

Youngs Creek Trail is a ten and a half mile loop trail
is perhaps the most difficult in the state, with
several challenging climbs and technical singletrack.

Riding the trail clock-wise may be a little more
enjoyable, though either direction has tough climbs,
fast downhills, mudholes, deep-set horse tracks,
sticker bushes, rocks and a few logs to jump.

A primitive campground with pit toilets, hitching racks
and a picnic shelter are located at the north end of
the trail.

One day use parking lot is located on County Road 550
South.

Day use parking is also available free at the
campground.

Paoli school children and the Orange County Saddle club
have provided most of the development and facilities at
this campground and trailhead.

Riders must have a National Forest Tag to ride

This shady trail traverses a variety of terrain in
scenic hardwood forests.

Directions Take 37 South for 3 miles out of Paoli. Look for a sign Turn right and go for about a mile on the blacktop until you see a sign on the left for Young's Creek. It is a little gravel road that turns to the left and you follow that road to the top of a long hill. You want to keep moving because the gravel is loose and you can easily lose traction if you are not careful. The campground is on the top of the hill.
